Functional Movement screening (FMS)

What is it?

A test to study the movement patterns of the body. Based on the result, possible corrections are made to solve the current limitations of the body.

1. FMS and motion:To chart mobility, pain or compensations. Using this, we can advise specific exercises for an optimal exercise pattern.

2. FMS and prevention:To advise specific exercises for mobility and flexibility to minimize injuries during moments of activity.

3. FMS and sports specific:To adjust the basic skills for an optimal performance level.

Personalized training schedule

The test consists of 7 different exercises (basic movement patterns). After these exercises the information gained from the test is used to create a personalized training schedule, with corrective exercises and training and revalidation methods that reduce the body’s asymmetry and its’ compensating motions.

What is measured?

The 7 basic motion patterns:

  • Squat
  • Lunge
  • Push
  • Pull
  • Bend
  • Twist
  • Step

How often should will we measure?

It is not necessary to schedule a measurement every month. You can choose to get measured every 3 to 6 months. Not every component has to be measured every time you come in for measuring, you can also choose to focus on one or more points. How often you’d like to monitor your FMS depends on the amount of exercises you do and the desired goal.
